Dr. Dorshkind is a Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He earned his PhD in biological structure from the University of Washington in 1980 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in hematopoiesis in 1983 at the Ontario Cancer Institute.聽

Dr. Dorshkind鈥檚 research focuses on lymphocyte development from embryogenesis through senescence. One particular area of interest has been on how the genetic and molecular processes that regulate fetal and adult B and T cell development differ. This work resulted in the identification of a precursor for a specialized type of B lymphocyte, referred to as a B-1 cell, which plays a key role in protection against certain bacterial infections. Another focus of Dr. Dorshkind鈥檚 lab is on how aging affects hematopoiesis and B cell development.聽

Seminars in Investigative Medicine is a research seminar series at 91制牌厂视频 aimed at bringing together the community of investigators both within 鈥 and outside 鈥 the medical school.
